Google Penguin Myths

New Google Penguin Update Killed SEO! Did it really?

Myth 1 – SEO is dead

A lot of people seem to think that Penguin update is the end of SEO… this has to be the furthest from reality that I have read since reading about the believes of mormons.

Wait! What are you talking about? What´s a penguin update?

It´s the name for an update of the google ranking algorithm, first introduced in April 2012. It is the successor of “Panda”. With it´s main goal penalizing websites that violate googles code of conduct. Ergo websites that utilize blackhat techniques.

Did Google Penguin succeed?

Hell no! It didn´t drive blackhat SEO out of business and guess what it never will. It´s still possible to outrank Wikipedia and Amazon using “smart” techniques.

Too many newbies are concerned by the Panda/Penguin updates so it´s my duty to debunk some myths!

Myth 1:- Blog Networks are deadBlackhat, greyhat and whitehat SEO are DEAD!

Myth 2:                                   SEO tools have become useless

Again this is a very untrue statement! Tools like SEnuke, XRumer, Scrapebox, AMR XXX are not dead. These tools are still used successfully on a daily basis by many people.

Myth 3: You can´t rank pages without getting sandboxed

Many people think that you can´t start utilizing SEO tactics like backlinking before your site “comes out of sandbox”. Wrong! You can rank many blogs and sites without ever getting any over-optimization or sandbox. Stop making too many thoughts.

Myth 4: Blog Networks have become useless

Why would anyone think so? I really have no idea but this is a false believe voiced by many. Google might have axed ALN and BMR and got most of their network deindexed the blog networks are still very profitable and useful. Quality stays king. If you have your own network with blogs it´s still your best bet. If you have the budget of course.

Just keep in mind that quality is important and don´t post spin worthless junk and don´t leave any footprints.

Big myth 5: On page SEO has become useless

The update focused mostly on off page SEO (anchor text, backlinks, footprints etc, all the off page tactics). Yet many people seem to forget about the on page SEO which is still really important.

The cause of this might be those blog and SEO “gurus” announcing misleading and plain wrong information on on-page SEO. Claiming it doesn´t matter anymore because google excactly knows the content of your site and what it´s all about etc.

Well yes. Penguin and Panda updates have improved or let´s say changed but that doesn´t mean that you can stop caring about you on page SEO like some gurus claim. It still plays a huge part of SEO and infact it has become even more relevant that it has ever been.

Myth 6:  Too many back links from ONE domain hurts you

Many SEO experts now are worried that getting too many backlinks from one website, blog, side bar, hurts you and exposes you to the Google hammer. Unless coming from a manipulative source it won´t hurt you. If the backlinks are natural you can have 1000s form a single page, and guess what, penguin won’t blink an eye.

Myth 7: Competitors building spammy Backlinks will kill my rating

Wrooong once again. 1 good, real, natural Backlink will compensate thousands of fake backlinks. Don’t waste your time contacting hundreds of webmasters from pages with spammy backlinks leading to your site

Myth 8: The keyword densitiy is too high

Highly unlikely… makes sure your content is user friendly and don´t keyword stuff. Everything is fine that way. Focus on offering a great user experience. Google will notice and love it!

Myth 9: Others steal/scrape my content. This will make Google send the inquisition after me.

No, you are the first person to have published the content. Google still recognizes this and will only penalize your competitors. Stop worrying too much.

Myth 10: Google is the all-knowing never-failing overlord of the SEO Police Department!

I rest my case…

Black Hat is not dead and this won´t happen in the future. Google has a lot of work to do.
