&nbsp;

White Hat SEO refers to techniques used by the law abiding upholder of moral standards. Also known as “Ethical SEO”.

A hacker who works for a company/government who tries to hack into systems in order to identify security weaknesses may also be called a whitehatter.

White Hat SEO techniques used include but are not limited to: Manual Backlinking, Link Building, Link Exchanging, using Keywords and Metatags, Providing Quality Service/Content and making your page easy to navigate.

If you only use White Hat tactics to improve your SERP (Search Engine Results Page) you run into no risk of getting penalized or even banned from google and other search engines. As a whitehatter you limit yourself to abiding the terms of service at any given moment.

Is White Hat SEO the only way to go? I can answer this with a clear YES! Whitehat SEO is the way to go! IF…. and only if you have no idea how to implement Grey Hat SEO strategies! Almost everyone who managed to rank well for his keyword is using Grey Hat or has used it. Please read on.

Welcome to Black Hat, the darkside of SEO. No, they don´t have cookies but they have Scripts, Bots, Spam, Scam and a load of automation programs at their disposal. They utilize Keyword Stuffing, Hidden Keywords/Text, Cloaking, Doorways, Questionable Redirects, Blog Networks, Article Spinning, Phishing, Viruses, Malware and plain Hacking.

Any other unethical behaviour falls into this category too. Like reporting pages and building literally millions of backlinks in the hopes of getting said pages deindexed and banned from google.

<h3 style=”text-align: center;”><span style=”color: #7d0552;”>Dangers of Black Hat SEO</span></h3>

&nbsp;

SEOs´ reputation has taking a massive blow from Black Hat spam techniques and it´s going to take a long time for it to recover.

Many new people in the SEO business read about Black Hat SEO and are swept off their feet by the promises Black Hhat SEO offers. They stop utilizing White Hat SEO strategies and instead use dubious tactics trying to improve the google ranking of their customers. This might lead to huge damages done to these websites.

Google is by far the biggest search engine with multiple million of hits everyday. It massively harms you, if your site gets deindexed or penalized.

Black Hat SEO has also lead to a common mistrust in search engine results. This directly harms proper ethically acting business. The flood of spam reduced the value of brands in the online market economic system.

Black Hat SEO is most commonly used to create landing pages who lure readers into buying usually worthless junk.

So to summarize Black Hat SEO tactics are very malicious and bad.

Are they really? Let´s discuss the sport of kings.

<h3 style=”text-align: center;”><span style=”color: #7d0552;”>Why White Hat, Black Hat and Grey Hat?</span></h3>

&nbsp;

Ever seen an old Italian western? What hats did the bad guy and the good guy use? That´s right!

Greyhat is a mixture of both. I can´t particularly remember any half-good half-bad guy wearing a grey hat but on the other hand I´m not a huge fan of westerns.

<h3 style=”text-align: center;”><span style=”color: #7d0552;”>Final Words:</span></h3>

&nbsp;

Is Black Hat unethical? YES. If it´s used to sell rubbish and distribute worthless content.

Is using Black Hat SEO in moderation unethical? No way! Many people do it. Why not you?
